I grew up in a family who were in the furniture industry and being surrounded by design as a child, it is no surprise that all I wanted for Christmas were crayons, colouring in books and new decorations for my bedroom. My love of interiors developed at a very early age – I always had a childhood opinion about our home that Mum and Dad had to endure!
My work history includes many facets of interior design, ranging from high end residential, commercial and retail design, through to the hospitality sector of restaurant, bar, pub and hotel design.
For over four years, I was the senior designer at Dreamtime Australia Design, designing projects such as Victor Churchill, Fine Family Butcher in Woollahra, Felix Bistro and Mr. Wong in Sydney for the Merivale Group, Salt House restaurant in Cairns and the food and beverage outlets at the Sheraton Fiji Resort.
I am humbled to say that at Dreamtime, we won the 2010 'Best of Year, Best in Retail' award for Victor Churchill - this award, hosted by renowned US magazine Interior Design, was judged from a global pool of entrants - winning was no small feat. Victor Churchill also won many local awards, including the Design Institute of Australia 'Premier Award'. It is incredible that a local Sydney Butcher gained so much world wide recognition.
More recently, I worked for Interbrand in Sydney as Design Director of Environments. As an interior designer, I brought a new offer to Interbrand, where creating brand experiences was the core of our team. It is a way of bringing together a brand's verbal and visual identity, strategy and digital technology and interpreting it for the interior environment to create a brand destination.
In 2013 I started a new venture, creating my own design studio. This was the beginning of something very exciting for me and although based in Sydney, so far it has taken me anywhere from New York (I have a love affair with New York!) to Byron Bay for various projects. Travel is one of the best parts of my job and I am lucky that I can tie it in with work – any excuse to jump on a plane and I will take it!
Please get in touch to discuss your upcoming projects.
